The Egyptian Company for Recycling Electronic Waste (EERC), one of the leading companies in the field of electronic waste recycling in Egypt, represented by its Chairman Eng. Ahmed Salem, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IREN Group—one of the largest multi-utility companies in Italy and Europe, with an annual turnover of approximately 6 billion euros. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Egypt, who closely followed the cooperation between the two companies.
Eng. Ahmed Salem stated that this partnership marks a strategic step aimed at transferring advanced Italian technology to Egypt through the establishment of the first-of-its-kind factory in Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa. The facility will be dedicated to extracting essential and precious metals—such as copper, gold, silver, platinum, and palladium—from electronic waste using wet processing technology, which is considered more sustainable and environmentally friendly. He pointed out that the estimated investment for the project ranges between 3 to 4 million euros. This collaboration is expected to strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional leader in green manufacturing and circular economy practices.
